The payment of tithes
For I, the LORD, do not change; Therefore, sons of Jacob, you have not been consumed.
From the days of your fathers you have departed from my laws, and you did not keep them. Turn to me, and I will turn to you, says the LORD of hosts. But you said: In what shall we return?
Will man rob God? Well, you have stolen me. And you said: What have we stolen from you? In your tithes and offerings.
You are cursed with a curse, because you, the whole nation, have stolen from me.
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse and have food in my house; and test me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you, and pour out a blessing for you until there is too much room.
I will rebuke the devourer for you, and he will not destroy the fruit of the earth, nor will your vine in the field be barren, says the LORD of hosts.
And all nations will call you blessed; for you will be a desirable land, says the LORD of hosts.
